This is a CD collection of original music supporting classic and original
ballads, lullabyes, and poems. The instruments are mostly acoustic and,
in certain cases, exotic. Three of the poems are from Rudyard Kipling's
The Jungle Book, while Wynken, Blynken, and Nod is the classic Eugene
Field lullabye. The idea was to put my quieter, softer, more acoustic
material together on one album and put the more upbeat material on Dreamtime
Continuum, a forthcoming CD of trance and dance world-beat fusion jazz
which also features Sapphron Obois on soprano sax along with my band Dreamtime
Continuum.
I play an Indian sitar, a 1971 Martin 12-string acoustic guitar, a Takamini
6-string steel electro-acoustic cutaway, an Oscar Schmidt Appalachian
autoharp converted into a pentatonic zither, a Japanese Shakuhachi flute,
and a Yamaha classical guitar. Sapphron plays a Selmer Mark VI soprano
saxophone and a Kawai acoustic grand piano. She was involved from the
onset in the production and mixing of all songs except Awakening, which
Steve Miles and I produced. We also assisted in the production of Wynken,
Blynken, and Nod and Shiv and the Grasshopper.
