California Celtic Harper, Patricia Rushton, performs exquisite arrangements
of 18th century and earlier music from Ireland and Scotland. She has recently
recorded "Open The Door Softly" for lovers of the Celtic
harp--an album of well-known favorites and many nearly forgotten melodies. A
fresh approach--beautiful and scholarly--this is the cd you'll reach for in
heavy traffic. A gem of a recording, the CD is a work of art. Patricia brings
a mythological approach to her performances, introducing us to the music's background
with story, historical references to uses for the modes. She brings the music
to life with descriptive images, story, and poetry.
Patricia Rushton has made music since early childhood beginning with the Ukulele.
Her first harp was co-created by herself and a woodshop carpenter. She has played
harp for many years, although began performing much later. Patricia has appeared
on several musicians' recordings as a backup singer and multi-instrumentalist.
She played weekly for 5 years with the James Joyce Irish session group. She
has also taught music arranging and creativity counseling. Multi-talented, she
has exhibited her paintings publicly and worked with abused children and adults.
Her thesis work on creativity for an MA in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate
Institute, convinced her to give more time to following her bliss, making music
and encouraging others to follow their heart's path. She believes the different
forms taken by our creative work are essential parts of the larger healing work
we do, all inspired by the same source.
