Granite Tapestry, a Santa Barbara favorite, loves
all kinds of music. Considering the backgrounds of its members, it's not surprising
that their "tapestry-like" repertoire ranges from traditional folk tunes
to the blues, and from original compositions to acoustic renditions of rock
and roll standards. • Nathan O'Hara providing vocals, guitar, and
harmonica is a veteran of rock and reggae bands. Whether singing a gentle
Irish ballad or a raucous Mardi Gras tune, his inspiring voice never fails to
move his audience. • Kristina Eriksen (accordion, piano,
guitar, and vocals draws from a lifetime of jazz, gospel, and classical performance.
Her lyrical accordion solos and haunting vocals provide additional textures
to the music. • Michael Mendelson
on fiddle, guitar, and vocals, has his roots in bluegrass, swing, and traditional
fiddling. His imaginative compositions and improvisations provide a strong
counter point to the vocal sound of the band. • Joe Gram,
on the bass and harmonica, brings experience from jazz, rock, and blues. He
anchors the group's sound with solid, danceable basslines.
Forming in 1990, Granite Tapestry, has played a variety of local festivals,
including KCBX's Live Oak Music Festival, SoHo Restaurant, local bookstores,
coffee houses, weddings and parties. With their wide range of musical
styles, rich harmonies, and creative originality, GRANITETapestry can please
any audience.
Granite Tapestry's debut recording was produced
by David West for Play Ball! Productions. The CD includes six band-member
originals, as well as a variety of the band's favorite tunes.
